Stewardship
Dear Friends,
In this most unusual year, it is a privilege for me to serve as the Finance Chair for our church and to see how faithfully and generously the congregation has kept Havre de Grace United Methodist Church achieving its mission and serving the world even without buildings or gatherings. With God’s help we may soon be able to assemble again as a church family, but until then, we must continue to maintain the life of our church through virtual means, generosity, thrift and social distance.
As in years past, but in a new way, we will celebrate our stewardship of God’s gifts during the first four Sundays in November. I hope all of you can participate in those services through Facebook as we rejoice in our ministries of Worship, Education, Missions and Evangelism. And we will look forward to the coming year and renewed stewardship of all we have been given.
Included with this letter is an Estimate of Giving Card that we have used for several years to show our individual commitment to the life of the church. You are invited to use this card to show your estimated giving for next year and to indicate any new ministries or committees on which you would like to serve. On the reverse of the card, you may show any changes to personal information to update church records. Please sign your card and return it to the church by mail or by hand. The information you provide on this card is very useful to the finance managers of the church and can also serve as a way for you to record and remember how you plan to support our church in 2021. Your card will be kept private and will only be seen by individuals who are responsible for the financial operations in the church.
In celebrating and renewing our stewardship, we fulfill many aspects of the pledge we make at baptisms: “To give thanks for all that God has already given us, and, as members of the body of Christ and in this congregation of The United Methodist Church, to faithfully participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
Sincerely,
Allan Burke, Finance and Stewardship Chair
